Delhi govt announces total curfew from tonight till next Monday morning
Delhi is among the worst covid cities in India. Coronavirus cases are increasing day by day and the situation is getting worse. Appropriate steps to control the situation is the demand of time. Due to the surge in the number of cases, the Delhi government has announced complete curfew from tonight to next Monday morning. The decision comes after chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and lieutenant governor Anil Baijal held a meeting with senior government officers over the Covid-19 situation in the national capital.
Delhi, which is now among the worst hit cities in India, has already imposed a weekend curfew as well as a 10pm-5am night curfew restrictions that are in place until April 30. CM Kejriwal said the number of cases is rising every day in Delhi and restrictions were needed to check the spread of the virus.
However, essential services in the city will remain open, whereas cinema halls, mall and gymnasiums will be closed. E-passes will be issued to shops selling medicines, groceries, fruits and vegetables, dairy and milk booths, meat and fish and other essential items. Also people working in banks, telecom/ internet services, delivery of essential goods, petrol pumps will need to have e-passes. Movement of people going for Covid-19 vaccination will be allowed. Also marriages which are already scheduled during the course of the week will also be allowed with a limit up to 50 persons. People engaged in essential services, including government officials, police and health workers will be exempted. Also pregnant women and other patients, people travelling to and from airports, railway stations and ISBTs, electronic and print media will not be restricted.
According to reports around 23,500 coronavirus cases have been recorded in the city.
