This morning, a 20-year-old man fatally assaulted his ex-girlfriend with a wrench on a busy road near Mumbai, while a crowd looked on without intervening. Rohit Yadav, suspecting that his ex, Aarti Yadav, had entered a new relationship, chased her and repeatedly struck her with the tool until she collapsed and died, as revealed by chilling CCTV footage from Vasai.
According to police, the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. in Vasai’s East Chinchpada area as Aarti Yadav was on her way to work.
Disturbing security footage captures Aarti walking on a busy pedestrian road when Rohit Yadav approaches from behind and strikes her on the head with a wrench. The impact causes her to collapse. As she tries to lift her head, her ex repeatedly hits her on the head 15 times, relentlessly attacking her until she becomes motionless.
A bystander is seen attempting to intervene, but Rohit pushes him away and threatens him with the wrench. The man retreats, and no one else steps in to halt the violent assault.
In another video captured by a bystander, Rohit is observed standing over the woman’s body, clutching the wrench. He leans down, grasps her face, and starts conversing with the lifeless form. Screaming in Hindi, he repeatedly asks, “Why did you do this to me?” before delivering another blow. Afterwards, he discards the bloodied wrench and walks away into the crowd.
Authorities have confirmed the arrest of Rohit Yadav, who will face murder charges. According to police, he had been distraught since Aarti ended their relationship and had suspicions that she had moved on to someone else.
